ZERO CARBON

Citylink Logistics Centre Building 2 applies passive design principals to significantly reduce the amount of heating energy required to condition the facility. It involves a series of carefully planned measures to minimize heat loss, which includes adopting a high-performance building envelope, constructing air-tight assemblies, and equipping vertical dock levelers to prevent heat loss through overhead doors. The facility’s ventilation system is equipped with an energy recovery ventilator that regulates and purifies fresh air by recovering lost heat from the out-going air stream, thereby reducing the energy needed in reconditioning fresh air. To promote sustainability practices, the facility harnesses roof-mounted solar photovoltaics to generate on-site energy, which offsets the remaining carbon emissions through high-quality carbon procurement practices.

Citylink Logistics Centre is located within the master-planned Carmek Park, along 100th Street, just east of the City of Calgary. The park is currently home to Harris Rebar, GFL, Lightspeed Logistics, Tundra Process Solutions, and Straight-Up Metal Buildings. Unlike most of the land developed in this area, Citylink Logistics Centre offers full municipal services including storm, sewer, and water to each building through a state-of-the-art utility corporation.

Border Business Park is the ideal location for businesses seeking an optimal site for industrial, distribution and logistics operations. The Park is surrounded by established urban amenities and conveniences, and is perfectly positioned minutes from thriving residential neighbourhoods offering access to a skilled workforce. Backed by Hopewell’s class-leading reputation for superlative design and quality, Building M is pursuing LEED® Gold Certification, with the objective of delivering energy savings, emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, water efficiency, and stewardship of resources.

Hopewell’s Building M is also ideally situated within the Park, with almost instant access to the QEII Highway via the 41st Avenue interchange. A new CP Intermodal Yard is minutes away on 41st Avenue, and the Edmonton International Airport is only 16 km to the south.

Once LEED® GOLD certified, Building M will use fewer resources, reduce waste and CO2 emissions, and maximize the health and productivity of tenants and occupants. The building’s reduced utility consumption will also result in substantial reductions in energy, water and maintenance costs, while addressing climate change, enhancing resilience, and supporting stewardship of valuable resources.
