As CEO of Hopewell Development, Kevin oversees all aspects of the corporate vision and development strategy.
In January 1996, Kevin joined the Hopewell Group of Companies as the Vice President and in the fall of 1997 he moved into the role as President. In 2013 Kevin became the CEO.
Under Kevin’s leadership, HD has grown in its North American status and received numerous awards. Prior to joining Hopewell, Kevin practiced law in Winnipeg and Calgary specializing in real estate development, leasing and financing.
Promoted to President of Hopewell Development in 2016, Murray’s role has been to oversee all of Hopewell’s acquisitions and dispositions across Canada for both the industrial and retail divisions, as well as assisting in the business development with potential investors, clients, brokers and current partners.
Murray joined Hopewell Development in 2005 as Vice President, Industrial Western Canada where his role was primarily the acquisitions, planning, marketing and leasing of Hopewell’s industrial development portfolio, including all existing and all new industrial projects located in Western Canada. Murray still oversees all functions, including leasing, for the industrial group in Western Canada.
Before joining Hopewell, Murray spent 7 years at the Colliers Vancouver offices where, as a top-ranking industrial broker, was involved in a variety of transactions including land, building and investment sales, leasing and build-to-suit projects. Prior to joining Colliers in 1998, Murray spent 8 years in the Vancouver industrial market at CB Richard Ellis Limited.
As Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President, David oversees Hopewell Development's Finance and Accounting operations which includes treasury, investment strategies, debt origination, investor relations, tax, corporate reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and execution of acquisitions and dispositions. During his tenure at Hopewell Development, David has been instrumental in securing over $1.85 billion in construction and takeout financing for industrial, retail, and suburban office projects across it's US and Canadian portfolio.
Prior to Hopewell, David worked in the Accounting Policy Group at Suncor Energy Inc. and the Assurance and Business Advisory Group at Ernst & Young LLP. David joined Hopewell Development in 2011 and has held various senior finance and accounting roles before his promotion to CFO & EVP. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta, School of Business and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.
Don manages the Development arm of Hopewell. From site acquisition through planning, permitting, site work and construction, Don’s role is to guide our development projects through to completion. With a Master of Urban & Regional Planning degree from Queen’s University and over 20 years of development experience, Don plays a vital role in the success of our development projects.
As Senior Vice President of Hopewell Real Estate Services, Laynie oversees the day-to-day operations of all property and asset management activities. Laynie has held leadership positions with three institutional landlords and an international brokerage firm, bringing nearly 25 years experience in the real estate industry that covers all facets of commercial property and asset management.
As Vice President Acquisitions and Leasing - Industrial, Phil’s primary responsibility is to oversee and assist with the growth of Hopewell Development’s Western Canada & US industrial portfolio. Phil and his team also manage and execute the leasing strategy for all development and income assets in these markets. Phil brings nearly 20 years of experience in the industry, with the majority of that focused on industrial assets. Prior to joining Hopewell in 2018, he gained valuable experience with a national developer, two institutional landlords and a national brokerage firm.
As Vice President of US Industrial, Justin manages the continuation of our US growth plan in Arizona and utilizes his experience to expand our portfolio in new markets across the US. Justin has detailed knowledge of the industry and is a major asset to our team, with 10 million square feet of transactions completed.
Prior to joining Hopewell, Justin was the Vice President of Industrial Leasing and Development for Liberty Property Trust, overseeing the leasing of Liberty’s 2.8 million square foot existing portfolio and was also responsible for Liberty’s ongoing development and pursuit of new growth opportunities in Arizona. Previous to Liberty, Justin was a Director with Cushman & Wakefield specializing in the sale and leasing of industrial properties and land in Metro Phoenix.
Derek joined Hopewell in April of 2016 as a Project Manager, was promoted to Director of Construction in 2021 and recently Vice President, Construction at the beginning of 2023. Derek manages the construction team across the country, overseeing the Project Management team and construction staff to ensure execution of all project scope, development planning, permitting and construction of Industrial and Commercial projects from start to finish. With a focus on general contracting activities, hiring subtrades and coordinating key scopes of the project rollout, Derek has an excellent ability to work with financial partners, tenants, clients, and owner groups.
With a Bachelor of Architecture and Planning degree from the University of the West of England in the UK and over 15 years of design, construction and development experience, Derek plays a key role in the execution of our projects.
Patricia oversees and assists with the successful execution of the leasing strategy and leasing across all markets and asset classes. Patricia directly manages the leasing of the company’s industrial portfolio and build to suit projects in Alberta and British Columbia. Patricia works closely with our development partners on the overall leasing strategy of the developments and with local brokerage communities in every market. Patricia has over 30 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry working in various sectors of the market including mortgage underwriting, property management and industrial leasing. Patricia joined Hopewell in 2001.
David Dickson joined Hopewell Development in 2023 as Director of U.S. Industrial. In this role, he is primarily responsible for leasing the firm’s growing U.S. industrial footprint that includes existing and planned projects in excess of 5.5 million square feet.
Prior to joining Hopewell, David served as Director of Development for Wentworth Property Company focusing on acquisitions, financial analysis, due diligence, entitlements, leasing, and design coordination.
David's educational background includes a BS degree in Finance from the University of Arizona, complemented by a Master of Architecture and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati. He is an active member of NAIOP and a dedicated life member of Executive Council Charities.
As the Director of Industrial in Eastern Canada, Justin plays a pivotal role with primary responsibilities encompassing the sourcing and underwriting of new development and income-producing investment opportunities. He actively manages development and leasing activities and is dedicated to fostering and maintaining strong relationships with both existing and potential partners and brokers.
Justin brings a wealth of experience, boasting six years in commercial real estate with expertise in financial underwriting, development, and asset management across diverse asset classes.
In her role as Director at Hopewell Real Estate Services, Danielle is dedicated to closely collaborating with third-party property owners to meet their distinct needs and objectives. With a strong foundation in economics and real estate, she has gained valuable experience at CMHC and Altus Group, specializing in property tax and economic advisory practices. Danielle's 20 years of experience brings a blend of leadership and asset valuation to the team.
Devon recently joined Hopewell from Choice Properties REIT and has managed many different aspects of commercial real estate. From office to enclosed shopping centres, to open air strip retail, Devon has a breadth of knowledge and experience dealing with Portfolios over different regions in Canada. His leadership style has fostered collaboration and growth amongst his teams in offices across Western Canada.
As Associate Vice President of Property Management at Choice, Devon held a crucial leadership role in Western Canada. He was responsible for 14 million sf of assets, executing the strategic plans for the Region. Devon previously held leadership roles at Primaris, 20 Vic Management and Harvard Property Management.
In her role as National Director of Operations, Danielle is responsible for driving service excellence, enhancing tenant engagement, and ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of properties across Canada.
Danielle brings more than 20 years of design, construction and project management experience, most recently as the AVP of Design & Construction, overseeing Mark’s and SportChek brands nationally on behalf of Canadian Tire, prior to joining Hopewell in 2024.
Holding a Bachelor of Interior Design, with NCIDQ certification, Danielle is also a PMP certified project manager in addition to being accredited in LEED ID+C. Danielle brings expert support to the team on the execution of capital projects, landlord’s work, ESG initiatives and the operational Occupational Health and Safety strategy.
David, a seasoned professional, joined Hopewell Real Estate Services in 2021 as a consultant. Impressed by the company's culture and the opportunity to contribute to the growth of a premier real estate services team, he transitioned to a permanent role as Director of Property Management Accounting.
Throughout his career, David has held key positions such as Controller and Vice-President of Finance at various esteemed organizations, including Tonko Realty Advisors, Menkes Developments, Burnac Leaseholds, Caruscan Corporation, and Triovest Realty Advisors. His expertise lies in client-reporting and audit management, catering to pension fund clients, private wealth clients, and owner-managed properties. David has a wealth of experience in overseeing and reporting on diverse property types, including office towers, industrial parks, shopping centers, and retail strip centers.
As Director of Asset Management, Mark oversees the strategic direction of a growing portfolio of industrial, office and retail properties which exceed $1B in asset value. In addition to overseeing the asset management function, Mark is actively involved in the underwriting and ongoing financial management of Hopewell’s development projects across North America.
Mark joined Hopewell in 2018 as a Financial Analyst and was promoted to Manager, Financial Analysis in 2021 and Director, Asset Management in 2023. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta, School of Business and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.
Arya joined Hopewell in 2022 as Director of Construction for the Eastern Canada portfolio, having most recently worked at GWL Realty Advisors as their Director of Construction. Prior to that, he played key roles in the growth of Choice Properties REIT and SmartCentres during their busiest years. Arya’s construction experience ranges through all asset classes and his passion for development make him a great fit for the Hopewell team as they continue to grow in the Ontario market.
With an undergraduate and graduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto and over 15 years of real estate experience, Arya is an integral member of the Toronto team.
Jamie started with Hopewell in the spring of 2001 as an apprentice carpenter gaining experience in our Calgary portfolio and working his way towards his Red Seal designation while becoming a seasoned Site Manager. In 2010, Jamie helped launch our general contracting operations in Edmonton, breaking ground on Horizon Business Park and Cornerstone Business Park. In 2012, Jamie took advantage of an opportunity to run his own business in sales of agricultural and commercial buildings with Goodon Industries, ultimately adding construction into his role with the company. When we began preparations in late 2016 to begin general contracting operations in Winnipeg, Jamie re-joined Hopewell and made the move east to Manitoba in the spring of 2017, diving straight into the second phase of Bridgwater Towne Centre and subdivision servicing and initial phases of construction at The Refinery District. Jamie has been instrumental to our construction team and was recently promoted to the role of Director in January 2024.
Amy joined Hopewell Development in October 2023 on a contract basis and was transitioned to a permanent role as Director of Finance, Special Projects in August 2024. In her role, Amy oversees Hopewell Development’s process improvements which includes systems implementation and maintaining Hopewell’s internal controls. In addition, Amy is actively involved in the underwriting and ongoing financing of development projects and asset managed properties.
Prior to Hopewell, Amy held increasing responsibilities in her 28 years at Triovest, starting from accounting assistant/backup receptionist to her latest role as Vice President, Corporate Accounting. During her tenure, Amy was responsible for property accounting, development accounting, corporate accounting and systems implementation. Amy has experience managing and reporting on all commercial markets as well as corporate reporting at the board level.
Amy is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.
Christina joined Hopewell Development in 2012 as its Assistant Controller and was promoted to Corporate Controller in 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta. As Controller, Christina manages the financial reporting process for Hopewell Development.
